Passion search is a modern-day sickness
Adults seeking clarity about their passion is a modern-day sickness, a cop-out.
What is passion?
Isn’t passion what brings you alive? That which puts a spring in your walk, sparkle in your eyes, and joy in your heart. You experience bliss in every moment. Isn’t that what we call passion? True or not?
If you don’t have passion in your life, you are either intellectually blind or mentally delinquent, or both. Passion, clothed as reality stares at us through our eyes and penetrates our soul every minute. Not having passion is denying reality because it means you don’t want to accept the responsibility that comes with what you should have a passion for. The object and center of passion is in front of us in every moment. It is the brattiness of the life of comfort and lack of a compelling reason that we can choose the lofty and irresponsible waste of precious time and energy in searching for the illusionary modern-day sickness we call passion.
Passion is what we must live. It is what we must do to live a full life. Passion must be to protect, preserve, prolong, and improve life. In whatever way you choose to live, live to uplift life, if not others’ who are around you, then at least for yourself.
Searching for passion is the ultimate insult to all those who care for and depend on you, and is an extreme act of arrogance and selfishness if you deprive them of your energy, goodness, generosity, creativity, and presence in search of some esoteric idea of passion. Engaging with reality, giving it our best, and living fully is the engine of passion.
Responsible people turn the tables. They choose what’s in front of them that they must do and do it to perfection, that simply means that they do it to their best ability. Whatever results come are the outcome of sincere effort, high intention, and intelligent execution. That is all that anyone can do. If that work matches the priority that individual can satisfy, the joy of the action, the steps of the journey, and whatever progress happens brings real change. Deep satisfaction. Peace.
What more can knowing your passion do? If you never get started because you were looking to launch yourself from the launch pad only when you had a destination, beware, life , time, energy, and your inner fuel might no longer work when you eventually spot what might be your passion.
Launch yourself in the service of your priorities and what’s in front of you. Let yourself be immersed in the journey. Do what you know, learn what you can, and contribute what is possible.
Be a role model of diligence, curiosity, generosity, and innovation. You will become passionate about whatever you touch. This is how humans have survived for millions of years. This is how you will flourish too.
Your passion resides in your needs, priorities, and responsibilities to live a full life, preserve lives that matter to you, and protect and prolong all lives that you can.
