Appeal #9
Congress:
It is collecting donations and obeying lobbyists so that they will fund the next campaign. An average Congressman or Senator spends less than 50 percent of their time on constituent issues. Virtually all decisions about scheduling are made with the top consideration being potential to raise funds and get donations to fight the next election. It’s the nature of our politics.
Federal Aviation Agency (FAA):
FAA officers have a relationship of conflict of interest with the airline operators and aircraft manufacturers. Candidly speaking, it is an incestuous revolving-door relationship. They go in and out as highly paid consultants or executives during and after their FAA careers. This is the freedom of choice in our democracy, even though some safeguards exist.
If the Congress and the FAA are the police to keep an eye on Boeing,
- who is policing them to see whether they are doing their jobs right?
- Who is seeing if the Congress and FAA are in Boeing’s pockets or handcuffed by Boeing’s lobbyists?
Boeing paid over a billion in fines for violating standards. Was this a case of two uncles letting off a rogue nephew with a mere warning ticket when he was caught driving a car deemed not-roadworthy due to severe damage? By law, they should have gotten the car towed to a junk yard to keep the roadways and public safe.
Boeing’s 737 Max and 787 Dreamliners, the ticking time-bombs in the air have crashed and killed unsuspecting public who counted on the US Congress and the FAA to keep them safe.
Who is policing the police, whether the police are in the pocket of Boeing and not doing their job honestly?
What will my lone voice do to awaken the conscience of the US Congress and the Federal Aviation Administration to grow the courage and have Boeing scrap these two aircraft fleets?
